What E-Bike Rack do You Recommend for a Boda Boda and a Surly Ogre on a 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon?

Question:

I have a step over electric Boda Boda and a Surly Ogre 29er. The Boda Boda has a 49.1” wheelbase and the surly is 48”. What would be a good swing out or tilt rack for a 2017 Subaru Outback? Thanks!

For your Boda Boda bike and your Surly Ogre with 49.1 and 48 inch wheelbases, I recommend the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # Y36FR. Not only is the OnRamp compatible with your bikes' wheelbases, but it also comes with an integrated ramp. Also, since the rack comes with independently-adjusting cradles, you will not need a bike frame adapter bar for your Boda Boda. These clamps also avoid any fenders. As far as tilting, the OnRamp will allow you to tilt with bikes mounted to open the rear hatch of your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon. I recommend mounting the bike with longer handle bars in the rear position of the rack. If you have fat tire bikes, you need the fat tire straps # Y23FR. For theft-deterrence of the rack from your vehicle, I recommend the Yakima HitchLock # Y07235.

Also, the OnRamp has a 66 pound per-bike weight capacity. Unfortunately, I could not find the weight specs of your two bikes online. If you need more weight capacity on the rack, feel free to respond to this answer with your weight capacity needs for your bikes. I went ahead and attached a video that shows the OnRamp in action.

If you need a compatible hitch to work with your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon, I recommend the Curt Hitch - 2" # C13206. The Curt hitch comes with a gloss outer coat over the base powder coat that provides more rust and corrosion resistance than other makes. Also, you will not have any bumper clearance issues with the OnRamp installed on the Curt Hitch.
