How to Install a Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2013 Nissan Versa
Question:
Which colors match from harness to Nissan wiring? I have black wire and a blue wire along with the red, green and yellow for the Nissan tail light wires and there is no blue or black on the harness setup. Could you tell me how the colors match up for splicing?

If you already have the # C59496 harness, you can use it on a 2013 Nissan Versa, but the recommended harness is # C56175. As you have found out you cannot go color for color. You will need to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the taillight wiring and then splice in the harness wires accordingly.
On the harness, white is ground and attaches to a clean bare metal surface. Yellow is from the left turn signal. Brown is for running lights. Red is for brake lights. And green is for right turn signal.
If your Versa has one bulb for stop lights but also has a combination bulb for turn and stop then you would use the wires going to the common bulbs (brake and turn signal) and then ground the red wire with the white wire. So, in this scenario there would be a combined left turn and brake light wire and different wire just for brake lights. You would use the wire that has the combined brake and turn signal and attach to the yellow wire on the driver's side, and green on the passenger's side.
If the taillights do have separate brake lights and turn signals, then you would attach the wires individually: white is ground and attaches to a clean bare metal surface. Yellow is from the left turn signal. Brown is for running lights. Red is for brake lights. And green is for right turn signal.
