Parts Needed to Add a 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 2012 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
I have a 2012 Toyota Tacoma with no OEM towing package. What parts should I order to install a 7-way trailer connector, and just where do I wire it in? Should I make the splices in the area behind the taillight, where the T-connector would go for a 4-way setup? And is there a way I could install a connector that would include both a 7-way and a 4-way connector? Thanks.

To add a 7-Way trailer connector to a 2012 Toyota Tacoma you will first need to add a 4-Way using # 118496 which just plugs in line with the vehicle tail light wiring. Then you would need to use 4- and 7-Way installation kit # ETBC7. This provides the 7-Way while retaining the 4-Way as well and the accessories needed to install it.
An all in one that comes with the 4-Way with tail light connections and a 7-Way ins not available. I have included some links that explain the ETBC7 installation.
If you need to add a brake controller I recommend the P2 # 90885. It is reliable, easy to set up, and easy to use.
