Recommended Way To Extend Weight Distribution Hitch So That Tailgate Clears Trailer Tongue Jack
Question:
Hello. looking to purchase Item # 325-GH-513. I tow a fully loaded 7500lbs 32ft travel trailer with a f150 using a blue ox sway pro. i hate the fact that im unable to my tailgate down due to the power jack being about 2in in the way. i was thinking of using the the gen y to extend the hitch so i can the tailgate down. was worried if that would be a good idea for the weight distribution hitch if it would cause it to not work properly or cause too much leverage. if it works great if not is there any recommendations you consider? thanks

I recommend swapping out the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution Shank # BXW4002 for a Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4600. The Equal-i-zer shank is 5" longer giving you enough to clear your tailgate.
With using with a weight distribution hitch the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers # 325-GH-513 would create another point where there is going to be play in the receiver tube. While this will extend your hitch out it is not the route I would recommend going.
