Replacement Wheels and ST225/75R15 E Tires for a Car Mate Trailer
Question:
My new Car Mate trailer comes with Load Star Karrier KR35 ST205/75R15 C tires, 5 lug wheels. I plan on purchasing two new wheels as spares and I want to run four new ST225/75R15 E tires. How do I know if I have 15 x 5 on 5inch or 4-1/2inch rims? Can I put new ST225/75R15 E tires on the existing wheels?

Thanks for the picture! I would be happy to help you find some tires for your Car Mate Trailer. The 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern is the most popular 5 bolt lug pattern found on trailer wheels. You need to measure from the center of one lug to the center of the lug nearest to determine what you have. If the distance is:
2-5/8" - the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2
2-3/4" - the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4
3" - the bolt pattern is 5 on 5
3-1/4" - the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2
In order to fit the Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E item # LHWL304 on the current Karrier ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C item # AM10244 rim your existing wheels will need to be 15 x 6 inches or 15 x 6-1/2 inches for the larger size to fit the same wheel.
The ST205/75R15 tire item # AM10244 you have now will have a section width of 8.1 inches and overall diameter of 27.3 inches.
The ST225/75R15 item # LHWL304, will have a section width of 8.9 inches and overall diameter of 28.4 inches.
For your spare tires I recommend the Contender ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 15" White Mod Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range E item # TA47FR.
