Recommended Braking System and Flat Towing Components For a 2021 Jeep Gladiator With Plastic Bumper
Question:
Will this brake buddy work with a 2021 Jeep Gladiator? I would really like to be able to take advantage of the ability to charge the dinghy battery while towing, vs. using the Patriot3 and possibly running into dead battery issues. My Class A is a 2021 Forest River FR3. Thank you.

Yes, the Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524 will fit your 2021 Jeep Gladiator. I recommend this as the best portable system for you. The inclusion of the charge line is definitely nice to have included, and the fold away handle makes it much more compact than the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR.
Do know that you can add a Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 to your Gladiator if you already have a Patriot 3. You will also need a 12 Volt Outlet Kit # RM-9332 to plug the Patriot 3 into since none of the 12 volt outlets in the Gladiator stay hot with the ignition switched off.
I recommend using the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-676 on the front of your Jeep. These mounts will sit at 16-1/4" from the ground on a Gladiator that has 285/70-17 wheels and tires that is sitting at the factory ride height. This is important to compare to the hitch height on your 2021 Forest River FR3 as you want the 2 mounting points to be within 3" of each other. You may need an adapter like the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-4 which has a 4" rise or drop, to get the tow bars within the 3" window. Be sure to measure your FR3 and if you need help let me know what height you got as well as the tire size and if any lift was add to your Gladiator.
The Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-676 is one of the most versatile tow bars available. These are rated for up to 8,000lbs and have an aluminum construction to prevent corrosion. The tow bars have led light strips to help you see if you are every connecting or disconnecting in the dark. You will want the RoadMaster Nighthawk Towing Combo Kit # RM-9284-2 as it includes the cover, storage bag, locks, lube and wiring needed for your Jeep. The included diodes in the kit will allow you to connect to the tail lights on your Jeep so that you will not need to run any Auxiliary Lights # RM-2120.
If your Gladiator has the ParkSense proximity sensors you will need to use the Diode Kit # RM47ZR instead of the ones that come in the Combo Kit.
