Air Lift Suspension Kit for 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 2 Inch Lift

Question:

Can I still fit an Air Lift air bag kit on my 2021 Silverado 1500 if I have a 2 inch lift? I'm looking to install one of these to get some extra help for when I'm towing or haling with my truck.

Great question! Air Lift does have some spacer kits like part # AL52420 for a 2" lift that could potentially work for your 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500. The reason I say "potentially work" is because not every lift is a true lift so even though your truck has a 2" lift, it might not need a 2" spacer. Thankfully Air Lift has given us some guidance on how to determine when and if a spacer is needed which we will go over in a moment, but first we need to decide what Air Lift kit we are using so we know the height of the kit.

I recommend going with the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Springs # AL88288 because the air springs have internal jounce bumper for added safety and the hardware is stainless steel so you know it is going to last against all of the dirt and grime that will collect under your vehicle over time. I also recommend adding a compressor kit like the WirelessAIR Compressor System # AL74000EZ because it allows you to monitor and adjust your air bags on the fly instead of having to make stops to do either.

Now that we know what Air Lift kit we are using we can determine if we actually need a lift kit or not. Start off by parking your truck on a level, flat surface. You'll need to measure the distance between the upper and lower mounting surfaces for the Air Lift kit and then subtract 5.5" from that number. If the distance between the mounting points is greater than 5.5" then you'll need a spacer kit to match the difference between the mounting point distance and that 5.5" air bag kit height.
