How do I Eliminate Rust from My Hitch and Hitch Ball?
Question:
Hello, How can I get rid of rust on my hitch system including the ball?

Expert Reply:
If you have rust on your hitch like the Draw-Tite # 36540 and a hitch ball like the # 40038, this is considered normal wear and tear on your hitch. The best route forward is to apply a new layer of rust-inhibiting spray paint such as the Rust-O-Leum brand or a similar product you can find at any local hardware or paint store. It is recommended for you to sand off the rust layer before applying the new layer.
I went ahead and linked a hitch maintenance article that may be of interest to you.
