LED Indicator Light on Curt Trailer Wiring Harness Is On All the Time On 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan
Question:
I had one of your power converters56187 installed on my 2013 Dodge grand Caravan. There is a red light that remains lit all the time on the harness socket even when the car is not in use. I do not want it on. Is there a way the tech can wire it so it is only on when the trailer is in use.

The Curt trailer wiring harness for the 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan is # C56331. I could not find information on a 56187. The correct harness does not have an LED indicator light on it anywhere. There are some adapters, like # C57674, that have LED indicators to tell you a circuit is working on or not.
In this situation the 12 volt indicator light will always be on because the 12 volt circuit is hardwired directly to the battery. In order to not have it come on it would have to be wired to a 12 volt ignition source. This is a source that only has power to it when the vehicle is actually turned on.
Or, you could have the tech install a battery isolator, # PK5231201. The power wire would go to it, the other end would connect to the positive battery terminal and the center post would go to a 12 volt ignition wire. This will maintain the recommended connection to the battery.
I understand not wanting to have that light on. But just for your reference if nothing is connected to the trailer connector it will not be drawing any power. The LED light will not draw enough power alone to drain the battery.
