Can a Reese 5TH Wheel Hitch # RP30054 Mount To a Demco Rail Adapter For a Ram OEM Prep/Puck System?
Question:
mounting the hitch to Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter DM6099
asked by: David W
Expert Reply:
I recommend using the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP37FR as the Reese Low-Profile 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30054 was only designed for use on cab and chassis type frames where a 1/2" steel plate could be used to mount the hitch directly to the frame. There is no good way to attach it to the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter # DM6099 since Reese will not make replacement side brackets that fit the industry standard rails. It will also void any hitch warranty by mounting the hitch in a way that is not approved by the manufacturer of the hitch.
The Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP37FR will fit the same factory prep/puck system on the Ram trucks as the Demco rail adapter you are looking at. If this is for a different truck or you do not have the factory rail system please let me know so I can help you find the correct 5th wheel hitch.
