The green light will be activated when the trailer is connected. Please make sure that you do have the trailer connected when trying to activate the green light.
If the trailer is connected but the green light is still not illuminated, please check the connection points at the trailer and make sure there is no damage or corrosion to either the connection points or wires leading to the connection point.
Please note the mounting position of the brake controller, and make sure that it is not mounted at an angle less than -20 degrees or more than +70 degrees. Also check to make sure that the brake controller is mounted in the correct direction and parallel to the direction of vehicle travel. If the controller is not mounted in the correct direction and angle, then the brake controller may not be operational.
Finally, if you have checked these things and you do not resolve the issue, please use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993. Then test each of the points on the vehicle connection point to the brake controller that is located under the front dash and make sure that the brake controller is getting power and brake signal from the vehicle.
I have included the installation instructions, a demonstration video, a trouble shooting video, and couple of a helpful articles for your reference.
