Brake Controller and 7-Way Trailer Connector Installation and Recommendation for 2022 Subaru Outback
Question:
I need a 7-way trailer connector for my 2022 Subaru Outback to tow a small R-pod type camper that has electric brakes. What will I need to do this? I'm wanting something that's easy to install

First, you'll need a brake controller to actuate the trailer brakes. The easiest to install controller we offer is the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller, part # C51180. The controller requires minimal wiring, you'll just need to run one wire from the rear of the vehicle to the battery. Once installed, the brakes are controlled via the app you'll install on your smart phone.
In addition to the controller, you'll also need a functional 4-pole trailer connector. If you don't have one yet, use part # 118467. The only other part you'll need is our # ETBC7L Brake Controller Install Kit. The kit includes an adapter to convert the 4-pole provided by the # 118467 to a 7-way, as well as all the hardware needed to complete the installation.
I'll link to an video that explains how the controller and the installation kit works as well as to an install video.
