Numbers Shown When Braking with Tekonsha Primus IQ On 2007 GMC Sierra

Question:

I just installed my brand new tekonsha primus iq brake controller . Hard wired into my 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 new body style. Its for power and all but I havent hooked up a trailer to it yet. But when Im driving down the road and go to stop number start going up when I press my brakes but when I release them it goes back to 0 this is with no trailer attached to my truck nothing plugged in.should numbers be moving like that just by by activating my regular brakes while stopping.. Thank you

It sounds like you may have a wiring mix-up on the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160 as the power numbers should only be displayed when a trailer is connected. I have attached a help article for the wire connections below. If everything check outs you may have an issue with a wire shorting out. The short is typically on the blue wire for this issue as this is what the controller reads to see if a trailer is connected.
