Will The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Add More Towing Capacity To A 2022 Subaru Outback
Question:
Will this hitch boost the towing capacity of my 2022 subaru OUtback?

Expert Reply:
Depending on the sub-model of your 2022 Subaru Outback you would have a maximum towing capacity ranging from 2,700lbs to 3,500lbs. This would mean that the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e25TR with a 3,500lb capacity would either meet or exceed the rating of your vehicle. Since a higher capacity hitch doesn't enable you to tow a higher capacity I highly recommend checking your owner's manual and ensuring you do not exceed the towing capacity of your vehicle.
If you need to tow a trailer with your new hitch then you'll also need a 4-pole connector to transfer your brake and turn signals to the trailer as well. For this I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118467. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area, either behind the driver's-side trim panel or in the spare tire compartment. You will need to remove some interior paneling to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, insert the provided fuse into the in-line fuse holder.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area or mounted to the hitch or bumper using the Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat # 18144.
For a great starter ball mount kit I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 7,500lbs # 989900. It comes with a 1-7/8" Ball and 2" Ball to allow you to tow multiple trailers. It has a 1" or 3" rise and a 2" or 4" drop to keep your trailer level while towing.
