How to Have 7-Way Round and 7-Way Flat on 2006 International 4400
Question:
This truck was originally sold to a beverage company. Im second owner. Im looking for a way to keep the factory 7-round, semi connection, add my Tekonsha P3 and 7-flat connection WITHOUT CUTTING and butchering the original harness. Also, this is an air brake equipped truck. I tow a wide range of trailers from ball, Pintle, Gooseneck, semi.... no brakes, electric and air equipped. I know this truck is the same platform as the International MXT series crew cab, pickup bed which came with accommodation for electric brakes. I bought a 6ft adapter round to flat but not satisfied with it. I already have all the parts wire, trailer sockets, plugs I just need the missing link to make all this work. MANY THANKS.

So one big hurdle would be that the 7-way flat connectors use trailer wiring that has the stoplights and turn signals on the same circuit and the 7-way round connectors will have these circuits on separate wires. So what that means is there is no easy plug and play harness adapter to go between these two without using a converter of some type which would have to be wired in. So what you'd need is a way to wire in the converter box between the two connectors. You can use 7-way jacketed wire with the part # DW04914-1 which is sold by the foot and then for a converter box you could use the # RM-732.
You'd need to then tap into the wires that run to your current 7-way and run the correct ones to the converter box and then from there run to the other 7-way.
