Question:

TV is a 2012 Yukon Denali xl and pulling a heartland wilderness 3150 DS. The trailer weight is 6500 dry, hitch weight of 560 and GVWR of 8600. Dealer recommended the E2 fastway hitch. Is this the best choice for my setup?

The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System, # FA92-00-1000, should work well with your Heartland Wilderness 3150 DS trailer. The key to choosing the correct weight distribution system is to choose a system that can support to total tongue weight of your towing setup. The total tongue weight will include the loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of your trailer plus the weight of any cargo loaded behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. I would not expect the total tongue weight of your setup to exceed 1,000 lbs, but it would be a good idea to find your tongue weight before making a purchase.

The e2 is a great system that includes integrated friction sway control and an easy bolt-on installation. For the best weight distribution system on the market, I recommend taking a look at the Reese Strait-Line systems. The Strait-Line systems use the dual-cam sway control that actively prevents trailer sway.

There are two systems that will work well for you depending on the total tongue weight of your setup. You could use the Strait-Line system, # RP66083, which has an effective tongue weight range of 400 lbs to 800 lbs. If you find that your tongue weight ill be right at or over 800 lbs, then I recommend the Strait-Line System, # RP66084. This system has a tongue weight range of 600 lbs to 1,200 lbs.

Keep in mind, these systems do not include the hitch balls. For a 2 inch hitch ball, you can use part # A-90. For a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball, you can use part # 19286.

I have attached an FAQ article on weight distribution systems for you to check out as well as an article on how to determine your tongue weight.
