Troubleshooting A Malfunctioning Kwikee RV Step Switch
Question:
I have a 2009 Fleetwood Discovery. Electric step stopped working. Replaced the motor and gearbox. Then it worked in reverse. Replaced the magnets. Then it worked until I flipped the switch in the motor home to keep the step out when the door is closed and the engine is off. Step goes in when I flip that switch. Does the interior switch also need replacing? Thank you

I spoke with my contact at Lippert and if you have Kwikee 32 Series steps like the # LC372261 that you linked to then this issue is being caused by the magnet switch you purchased # LC301694. For the 32 Series you would actually need the Replacement Magnetic Door Sensor for Kwikee Electric RV Steps - Rectangle - Black # LC369299.
Some switches are wired to be normally open or normally closed so mixing and matching parts can cause communication errors between the components.
