Hitch Mount Bike Rack to Carry Fat Tire Electric Bikes

Question:

While I appreciate the recommendation, Im not a fan of the hinge system and the need for extra accessories nor are lots of reviews. It seems the Thule EasyFold XT might be a better suggestion? Although, it seems this whole heavy bike market is lacking a quality option.

I do have a solution for you, but while we do have 4-bike racks that work with fat tire bikes, none of them are able to carry 4 bikes that weigh in at 65 - 70 lbs each like what you're talking about. The closest we have is something like the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # HR1400Z which only goes up to 50 lbs per bike.

Because of this, I believe your best scenario is to fold up 2 of the bikes and put them in the back of your vehicle and then using a bike rack like the Yakima OnRamp for 2" Hitches # Y36FR which can carry up to 66 lbs per bike (when you remove the battery your bikes will weigh under this) and then you can use the Adapter Straps # Y23FR so that this rack will work with the fat tires on your bikes.

Attached is a review video for you to check out.

The Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 is another excellent option that I believe you'll be happy with. It can handle up to 65 lb bikes and you can carry your fat tire bikes if you get the Adapter Kit # TH985101 (1 kit per bike). In addition, if you'd like to use a longer ramp then we have that available as part # TH933402 as well. I definitely agree that there is a gap in the market for what you're needing. The problem that manufacturers are running into though is that 4-bike racks that can handle standard bikes are already pretty hefty (some over 100 lbs) so when you need to beef it up to handle really heavy bikes you'll start to run into weight capacity issues with the hitch on the vehicle as well.
