Which Brake Switch Wire on 2008 Pontiac Torrent to Connect to Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller
Question:
I purchased this controller from you for my 2008 Pontiac Torrent. I am having a problem with finding the wire on the brake switch that goes hot when the brake is applied. The break pedal wire did not light up my 6 to 12 volts tester. I assume that I need more power. Im trying to locate the BCM and the break signal wire. Can you help? Regards,

I have linked an article that describes the location of the BCM (Body Control Module). If you cannot locate the cold-side wire at the brake pedal switch using a tester such as # PTW2993 you can instead use the wire on the BCM that activates the center high-mount stop light (CHMSL) to provide the activation signal for the Voyager. You will need to test the wires at the BCM to find the one that carries voltage only when the brake pedal is pressed (often this is a white wire). Please refer to the photo provided which shows the BCM. The BCM is located just under the front of the dash on the left side, just above your left knee as you are seated in the driver seat.
If you are not able to find the CHMSL wire on the BCM you can instead obtain an activation signal for the Voyager by tapping into the fuse for the CHMSL in the fuse box under the hood. You can use the Firestone Fuse Tap Kit, part # F2526. This plugs into the fuse box in the location for the CHMSL fuse
and provides a wire lead you can connect to the red wire on the Voyager pigtail harness. If your Torrent uses a different fuse type than the Firestone Tap Kit you can bring your CHMSL fuse to a local auto parts store to obtain a fuse tap kit that uses the same fuse as your vehicle.
