Parts Needed to Install Redarc Tow-Pro Elite on a 2012 Dodge Durango Without the Tow Package
Question:
Another question. If I went with the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller Item# RED44FR, Would this be the same setup as installing the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller Item # TK94FR I wasnt sure because what I was looking at with the Redarc, seemed to have a few more wires Red, Blue and white to connect where as the Tekonsha just seems to have the black one to battery. I am not sure if the 2012 durango non towe package has a harness/plugin to plug into. Thanks Again,

If you were to install the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR instead then this would require a little different wiring on your 2012 Dodge Durango. The Prodigy RF # TK94FR installs on the trailer frame so it just needs the trailer light functions and 12V power which is what the 7-Way Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L provides. The Tow-Pro Elite, however, installs on your Durango so the installation will look a little different.
You can still use the Curt T-Connector Wiring # C56133, but you'll need the Universal Wiring # ETBC7 instead. This comes with everything you need to get the 7-Way fully functional and enough wiring for you to make your connections to your Durango.
I'm attaching some videos and a photo to demonstrate how the ETBC7 will need to be installed. Please note that the install video is on a 2007 Durango so you will want to test the wiring on your 2012 to make sure everything is hooked up correctly.
