Replacement Motor and Control Module For Lippert CoachStep

Question:

I have a 2009 Monaco Camelot Class A Diesel Pusher. My step has stopped working so being that the RV is 13 years old I am thinking I should replace the entire step assembly motor and gear..... or do I just need a new stair motor and gear. My existing step is a Lippert LCI Model 165032, Serial # 527090, dated 03-19-08. What is the current replacement step that will fit my Camelot?

You shouldn't need to replace the entire step assembly of your CoachStep, replacement parts should do the trick for you. As for the current replacement step, since CoachStep was discontinued some time ago, there isn't a specific replacement for these steps, you would need to measure the mounting bracket width and entry height. For example, if you had a mounting bracket width of 25-7/8" available and had an entry height of 23-1/4" - 25-1/4" you could install the Kwikee Electric RV Step Complete Assembly - Double - 40 Series - 24" Wide # LC3726892.

Having said that, since the steps just died, it seems likely it is the motor, or possibly the control module. If the motor is what is not working you can easily replace that with the Replacement Motor for Lippert Electric Coach Step # LC301695.

You can use a circuit tester to see if it is getting power, and if it is but the motor isn't working, you'll know the replacement will fix your issue. Otherwise, if it is not getting power, check the control module to see if it is powering the motor; if it is not then you can replace the module with the Replacement Control Module for Lippert Electric Coach Step # LC301702.
