How to Use Weight Distribution System in 3 Inch Hitch & Shank With 6-1/2 Inch Drop
Question:
I have a curt WD 17501 with a 2-1/2 shank no drop. I am getting a newer truck that has a three inch receiver, and the trucks sits a little higher than my current truck. What are my options for a 3 inch shank and a 6-1/2 inch drop that’s compatible with the 27501 WD head?

So you can still use your Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System # C17501 with truck that has a 3 inch hitch, there aren't any weight distribution shanks for a 3 inch hitch. So what you'll need is a hitch reducer to essentially make your truck's 3 inch hitch a 2-1/2 inch hitch:
- B&W Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve - 3" to 2-1/2" # BWRHXA2183
Then you will simply use a weight distribution shank for a 2-1/2 inch receiver, and one that will give you the correct amount of drop is from Curt:
- Curt Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2" Hitches # C17132
This shank offers a maximum of 9-1/4" drop so it will work for you.
