does the demco 9523010-54 light kit require a relay with a brake buddy that applies the brakes when the towing vehicle slows for a turn or stop?

It depends on whether or not the towed vehicle's brake lights illuminate when the brake pedal is pushed when the vehicle is being towed. If yes, then you'll need to install a brake light relay with # RM-88400; that way your vehicle will act in accordance with the signals sent by your RV.
