Bed Rails to Install Reese Fifth Wheel Hitch in 2005 Chevy Silverado 3500 With 8 Bed

Question:

Got a Reese fifth wheel hitch from my late father. It shows part numbers on hitch 30031, 30037 and 30726 manufactured date 7/22/97 I need the rails and don’t know which ones. It is going in a 2005 Chevy Silverado 3500 8 ft bed that already has a gooseneck ball from manufacturer. Can I put rails in the bed? Please let me know Thanks

Since you already have a gooseneck hitch you will have to use a base rail adapter like the Demco 5th Wheel Base Rails Adapter for B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitches # DM6140. You will install an adapter in the ball hole of your gooseneck hitch to get above-bed base rails for your Reese fifth-wheel trailer hitch in your 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 with 8' bed.

If you have the Curt double lock gooseneck ball, you will need the Curt X5 5th Wheel Base Rails Adapter for Curt Double Lock Gooseneck Trailer Hitches - 20,000 lbs # C16210.

If you have the Curt EZR double lock Gooseneck ball, you will need the Curt X5 5th-Wheel Base Rail Adapter Plate for EZr Double Lock Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # C16220.

If you have an OEM gooseneck ball, there isn't an adapter that would be capable of adapting rails to it. You would need to need to use a 5th wheel hitch that fits the gooseneck ball or convert your trailer's 5th wheel kingpin to a gooseneck coupler.

If you can tell me the correct gooseneck hitch you have, I can give you the correct adapter for your truck.
