Correct Wiring Kit for Flat Towing 2009 Jeep Wrangler JKU

Question:

Flat towing a 2009 Wrangler JKU: As far as a wiring system, I am looking at RM-15267. I also see there is a combo kit, RM-9243-1 that includes a wiring kit. Are these 2 wiring kits the same? Also, is a brake light relay required? Thanks.

The difference in the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 and the RoadMaster Falcon 2 and Falcon All-Terrain Combo Towing Kit with Straight Wiring # RM-9243-1, is the RM-9243-1 has everything you need to tow with RoadMaster's Falcon 2 and Falcon All-Terrain system in one convenient kit. Includes wiring kit, power cord, mounting bracket, safety cables, padlocks, tow bar cover, and a vinyl bag to store it all. The # RM-15267 just contains the wiring kit, not the other parts you will need to flat tow your 2009 Jeep Wrangler JKU.

A brake light relay is not required with either of these kits because the diodes prevent any potentially harmful feedback.

The # RM-9243-1 is designed for use with the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch - 6,000 lbs # RM-522, which is part of the flat towing package you will need.

In case you need the other parts of the flat tow package, my recommendations are:

Base plate kit: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # 1429-3
Supplemental Braking System: Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System # BLU37TR.

You may also need a high-low adapter to make sure you are in the "Safe Zone" with the height of your tow bar. I have included an article to determine the correct high-low adapter you need, as well as a link to the high-low adapters we carry.
