Will a Fixed Fifth-Wheel Hitch Work with My 6-3/4 Ft. Bed on a 2021 GMC Sierra 2500?

Can I use a fixed fifth-wheel hitch on a 2021 GMC Sierra 2500 with a 6-3/4 ft. bed with oem prep?

We tend to stick with the safe side of things and just recommend using a sliding 5th wheel hitch if you don't have an 8' bed, but we have heard and seen people 5th wheel tow just fine using a non-sliding hitch on a 6-3/4' bed. However, we currently do not carry any fixed-style fifth-wheel hitches that are confirmed to fit your 2021 GMC Sierra 2500 with oem pucks.

With that being said, we do have a great sliding option to go the safest route. That is the B&W Companion # BWRVK3775. The sliding feature on the Companion will allow you for you to get the clearance you need while making slow, sharp turns.

If you happen to already own a stationary 5th wheel hitch, here is a formula to use to determine turning your clearance:

(A + B) - C = Clearance
A = Distance from center of fifth wheel hitch jaw to truck cab
B = Length of slider/offset/Sidewinder
C = Width of trailer divided by 2 (to get half)

You need at least 4" of clearance to be able to make a 90 degree turn.
