Does Curt 4-Way C56040 For Subaru Allow Installation of Brake Controller
Question:
Which wire on the CURT 56040 Vehicle-Side Custom 4-Pin Trailer Wiring Harness is the brake signal wire to connect a brake controller signal wire to? Thanks!

Expert Reply:
So the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56040 is just a 4-way, which means it only powers your trailer's turn signals, brake lights, and tail lights (the other wire is a ground wire).
In order to add a brake controller you would also need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat # ETBC7.
The Curt 4-Way # C56040 will plug into the 7-way that comes with the # ETBC7, and it is the 7-way that has the wiring needed to connect a brake controller such as the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195.
