Question:
I have a Hopkins 7-4 trailer adapter and only two lights are showing when plugged in? What does this mean?

It will depend on which LED test light is not illuminating on the Hopkins Endurance Quick-Fix Replacement 4-Way Flat # HM48192. With that said, it will be one of 3 things, but I will start by saying to make sure your running lights are turned on in the vehicle. This is a commonly missed step when using testers on vehicles that do not have automatic running lights. With that out of the way, let's get into it.
First, you have a bad connection. This can happen during the install process, and you will need to check and make sure everything is making good solid contact to bare metal, both the copper of the wires and the post on the # PTW2993. Open it back up and make sure everything is very snug and fully contacting the post. Once this is done, close the cover and test again. If it is still not working, move to the next step.
Second, the LED is bad on the # HM48192. You will need to use something like the # 40376 wire tester to test this, but you will need to make sure that once engaged, you have pulsing power at the right turn and left turn wires and constant power at the running light wire directly after the # HM48192. If everything has power, the # HM48192 will need to be replaced. If everything does not have the proper power, move to the next step.
Third, there is an issue with the vehicle side wiring. You will need to use a wire tester again and basically follow the same procedures as when you tested the trailer wires. Make sure you have pulsing power at the right turn and left turn ports and constant power at the running light port, once they are turned on. If one of these isn't getting the correct power, you will need to trace the wire to see if there is a break somewhere, or if it is an aftermarket wiring harness and there are no breaks, you will need to replace the harness.
If all this fails, let me know and I can try something else, but odds are it is one of these things and you will be good to go.
