7-Way and 4-Way Connector for Ford F-250 with More Separation between Connectors

Question:

My father in law has a recent model F250 with the 4pin and 6 pin connectors on the bumper. He tows a 5th wheel and utilizes 6 pin plug. He also tows a John boat behind the 5th wheel. That utilizes a 4 pin flat. He ran a 4 pin wire under the length of the trailer to hook to the 4 pin on truck. He’s having trouble hooking both in at the same time because of interference with the stock hinged connector covers having both ports open simultaneously. He’s considering removing one of the covers to gain necessary clearance.. In lieu of that, I suggested there may be an adapter similar to 6-to-4 pin adapter that may have a female 6 pin on one end, a male 6 pin on the other, and a 4-pin socket 90 degrees off to the side - where both 6 and 4 pin could be plugged into the 6 pin socket. Does something like this exist?

Expert Reply:

If the truck is a newer F-250 and the trailer is a 5th wheel trailer I would anticipate that the trailer wiring connector is actually a 7-way and not a 6-way. It's easy to count only 6 pins as the center pin is the 7th one.

So one solution that would give you more separation between the two connectors is the part # 74682 which has the 4-way completely away from the 7-way on a different harness.
