Trailer Hitch Receiver Recommendation For a 1971 Chevrolet K5 Blazer
Question:
will Curt 13028 be the best fit for a 1971 K5 Blazer 4x4
asked by: Steven A
Expert Reply:
I recommend using a Draw-Tite Ultra Frame # 41990-07 and having that custom fit for your 1971 Chevrolet K5 Blazer 4X4. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13028 is a custom fit for the C/K Series Pickup Trucks and is not confirmed to fit your K5 Blazer.
The Draw-Tite can be bolted to your frame with eight 5/8" bolts that are at least grade 5. You will need to source this hardware separately as it is not included with the receiver. I have linked the installation instructions below so you can check the mounting location on your frame to ensure that you can bolt it on versus welding.
A 4-Pole Hardwire Kit with Circuit Tester # 18252 will get you a 4-way flat connector if you are towing small trailers or need Auxiliary Lights # C53201 to use on a cargo carrier or bike rack that may impair the view of your tail lights. For larger trailers you will want the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 with a brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195.
