What 7-Way Wiring Harness do I Need to Transport a Pop-Up Trailer?
Question:
I recently got a hitch and 4 prong flat wiring harness installed. I found I need a 7 prong wiring cable to haul a pop up trailer. Could you show me or provide a link to a easy, do it yourself, 4 to 7 prong converter?

Without knowing the specific year/make/model of your vehicle, if you need a 7-way wiring harness in addition to your already-installed 4-way to haul a pop-up trailer, that is the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat # ETBC7. This will give you full brake light/turn signal capability as well as the ability to install a brake controller. I also went ahead and linked the product page of this part in order for you to access all of the installation videos we have of this harness. It must be noted that there may be a 7-way harness already designed to fit your vehicle. Feel free to input your year/make/model in the fitguide and click "trailer wiring" to see if there is a customized 7-way fit.
To add a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 or the Curt Echo # C51180. Both of these controllers are proportional controllers which means that the controller activates the trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action. The Voyager is more of a traditional-style controller than requires mounting into the dashboard of your vehicle near the steering wheel. On the other hand, the Curt Echo allows you to control the settings of your controller with the ease of your Smart device. I went ahead and listed some installation videos of these controllers to this answer.
