Recommended Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier for Shallow Volvo Folding OEM Hitch

Question:

Hi we have a 2 inch folding hitch. It’s depth is limited to 2.6 inches, measured from the center of the hole for the locking pin to the bottom of the receiver. Is this carrier or other carriers like curt one fit this? We had previously tried a carrier and the depth from the locking pin to the receiver was too long to fit the pin in.

The distance on the shank between the hitch pin hole and he end of the shank for the 59502 is 2-7/8 inches, so it wouldn't work in your hitch.

However, the Curt # C18151 folding carrier you'd looked at measures 2-1/2 inches between the center of the hitch pin hole and the end of the shank, so it'll work great for you, with a little room to spare. You'll be able to fold the carrier up toward the rear of the vehicle if the distance from the center of your hitch pin hole to the furthest rearward point of your back bumper is less than 9 inches. You might also be interested in a locking hitch pin like part # e98882.
