If you want to install the necessary wiring for a brake controller, you can do it in two steps. The first step is to add a 4-pole harness. This harness will add the trailer lighting for your brakes, turn signals, and tail lights. Next, you can add an upgrade kit to take it from a 4-pole flat to a 7-way connection. This will add the power for a brake controller, a wire to connect to the battery for 12V power source, and lastly a wire for the reverse lights.
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part # 118753, is my recommendation to add the 4-pole flat wiring harness to your 2022 Honda Odyssey. My next recommendation is the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 12 Gauge Wires. part # ETBC7L. This is a kit for wireless brake controllers. After the installation of this kit you will have a 7-way plug for trailers that have trailer brakes, while retaining a 4-way for trailers that do not require trailer brakes. If you do not want to use a wireless brake controller you will need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires, part # ETBC7. This wiring kit works with wired brake controllers.
If you are in need of a brake controller, I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional, part # RED44FR. It is a proportional brake controller, so your trailer braking depends on the brake force you apply in the towing vehicle. It you are making a gradual stop, the trailer brakes will apply that corresponding force. It can also be installed in any direction, so you can keep the control unit out of the way and the only thing visible in your cab indicating you have a brake controller is the control knob.
I have included product description links and video demo links below.
