Replacement Tire Sized 5.30 x 12 On A Jayco Jay Series Pop-Up Camper

Question:

I have a Jayco Jayseries pop-up camper that has 5.30 x 12 tires made by Carlisle mounted on steel 4 bolt pattern rims. They are biased ply load range C. I saw you have 5.30 x 12 in a radial that are load range D and come with Aluminum 4 bolt pattern rims. When we camp we usually will drive a couple thousand miles on our trip and your tires/rim combination seems a lot better option. Do you have any recommendations for me? I would be interested in knowing. Thank you for your help.

The biggest difference between a biased ply load and the radial trailer tire is the radial will offer more ground contact which will improve your traction as well as give you more equal tire wear. Radial tires are typically more stable compared to the bias ply tire.

The Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10130 is a great option that will cater to your long-distance hauls, while providing all the perks of the radial tire.

The load range D indicates how much load capacity your tires can support at maximum air pressure. This does not increase your load capacity for your trailer, you would still need to refer to the axle's weight rating.

If you're looking for new wheels, the Aluminum HWT Series S5 Split Spoke Trailer Wheel - 12" x 4" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 # AM22319HWT is a popular choice and will fit into the tire # AM10130 mentioned above.
