Recommended Flat Towing Set Up For A 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500HD

Question:

I am looking to get my 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500HD set up for flat towing. It currently has nothing for this, so I will need all parts. Not sure if I need a braking system, but I am open to options as well.

We definitely have options to flat tow your 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 and the following will be some recommendations to get you on the road. With that being said, I included some review and install videos of these recommendations for you to check out as well.

First, the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX1740 is designed to fit your 2021 Silverado 2500 and will bolt directly to the frame. Next, you will need a tow bar that will attach to the # BX1740 .

The Blue Ox Avail Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch - 10,000 lbs # BX7420 will have a self-aligning design and the arms extend into a rigid, tow-ready position and automatically center and lock into place. This also includes safety cables, so you will not need those separately.

If you will not be using a braking system, the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154 will get the lights working and includes all the needed diodes. We recommend the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle # RM-766 as your truck must have the battery disconnected for towing, but you can also just disconnect the battery manually as well.

If you will be using a braking system, you will need the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. You will again need the # RM-766 to complete the install if you decide to use it, but this will include all other needed parts to get the lights and braking system up and running.

And Finally to the braking system. I prefer the permanently installed system like the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700. Though you will need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM56VR to complete this set up, once it is installed, you are good to go. This is a one time set up device and is quick and easy to use. This also activates only when RV brake lights are illuminated, so there is no chance false braking.
