B&W Companion and Demco Hijacker Comparison on a 2022 Ram 2500 with OEM Puck System

Question:

I have a 2022 RAM 2500 short bed with the OEM puck system on the way, I need a 5th wheel hitch and assume it will need to be the slide type. I 've had the B&W recommended to me by several folks but which one do I need? Is there another option? I also so a guy at the State park with a Demco recommended to me but don't recall the model. The 5th wheel I am buying is just a little over 16K for GVWR. But I can't see ever getting it fully loaded.

This is a great hitch as B&W manufacturers one of the best available on the market today. The 1" thick jaw on the Companion OEM is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection with superior powder coating. All made right here in the USA with materials sourced from here as well.

The Demco Hijacker Autoslide, # DM8550034 along with the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter, # DM6099 is a good option. What I like about it is the auto-slide feature, but it does require an adapter and it is heavy. A good option, but always go with the B&W when it is an option.
