Will a Leaf Spring Work on a 2 Horse Trailer With a Slant Ramp
Question:
I have a situation that I need help with: My warmblood-size 2 horse trailer ramp has a broken springs that are attached by a bracket on the ramp which is slanted. This makes the ramp extremely heavy to lift or put down into position for loading. This is a 1989 aluminum Classic trailer. It appears that the springs are rusted and the springs just broke under the stress. I saw your product on the trailer leaf spring and my question is: Is this the same type of spring that would be used for the axle and would be attached to a bracket on the slanted ramp? Any advise you can give would be appreciated. Thank you.

You were right on the money thinking that the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e54SR should work with your slant ramp on your 1989 Aluminum Classic Trailer.
Through some research, I was able to find out that Redline supplies many of the ramp springs to horse trailer manufacturers. The key point to make sure these are the correct ones is to measure the ones you currently have - I realize they are broken, but, do the best you can. You need to measure from center of one eye to the center of the opposite eye. If it measures 25-1/8 inches then the # e54SR is the correct spring.
My technical contact reviewed your photos and said that due to the obvious age of and rust on the springs, more likely than not, they will measure more than 25-1/8 inches. This is normal result from use. You just have to make sure they are not less than 25-1/8 inches between the eye centers.
The U-bolt that you have attached is Redline # 175130.
