Will the Thule Roof Mounted Cargo Basket # TH859XT Fit on a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

Hello, I have 2008 jeep grand Cherokee limited diesel with factory roof rack. the cross members move 6inch inc. to lock down . I have seen other jeeps with this rack but want to make sure it will fit. Not to cover sunroof. Also how to lock it down so no one steels it after I install? When I measure existing rack 38inch W x approx. 36L as to not cover sunroof etc. and not to hang off backside. Sincerely

The Thule Roof Cargo Basket, # TH859XT, is larger than your current roof basket, so to determine how this cargo basket will fit on your 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I can provide you with some specs that you can use to determine how this basket will fit.

This cargo basket will fit crossbar spread of 20 inches to 37 inches. The crossbar spread is measured from the center of your front crossbar to the center of your rear crossbar. It is recommended to have the cargo basket centered over the crossbars.

The outer dimensions of this cargo basket are 49 inches long x 40 inches wide x 6 inches tall.

Since your crossbars are adjustable in 6 inch increments, I am sure that you can get within this wide range of acceptable crossbar spread. With the roof rack centered, the front edge of the cargo basket will be approximately 12 inches forward from the center of the front crossbar and the rear edge of the basket will be 12 inches rearward from the center of the rear crossbar. You can use these dimensions to compare to the dimensions of your roof and roof rack.

This rack offers a lock to deter theft in part # TH450400. This lock secures the cover over the hardware that connects your basket to the crossbar so that it cannot be removed.
