Recommended Brake Controller for 2017 Buick Enclave Without Tow Package
Question:
Once I install this on my 2017 buick enclave, do I still need a brake controller or does this use the electrical system on the car to make the electric brakes on the enclosed trailer work. My trailer is a 2020 12 x 6 with double axle with brakes on both.

You will still need a brake controller after installing the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way Trailer Connector # 118271 on your 2017 Buick Enclave. Since your Enclave didn't come with the factory tow package you won't have a plug and play adapter for a brake controller, so I recommend going with a wireless unit.
The wireless controller I recommend using is the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 2 Axles - Proportional # C51180 since it lets you control the brakes with any smartphone running Android 4.4 (or newer) or iOS (8.0 or newer). The Echo provides you with proportional braking so it will apply the trailer brakes in proportion to the braking of the tow vehicle, so it will be a bit easier on the brakes over time.
I've linked a short review video of the Curt Echo for you to check out and see how it works.
