What Parts Are Needed To Flat Tow a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited With Factory Plastic Bumper?

I just purchased my first motorhome and am looking to order everything needed to flat tow my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The Jeep is stock down to the factory plastic bumper. What parts do I need?

Congratulations on purchasing your first motorhome!

To flat tow your 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, tow bar wiring, supplemental braking system, and likely a high-low adapter.

Starting with the Base plate kit I recommend going with the Roadmaster Direct Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521453-5 which will fit with your factory plastic bumper perfectly, and when you are not flat towing you can remove the arms to help the kit better blend in to your front bumper.

Next for a compatible tow bar I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522 as it has a 6,000lb which is perfect for your Jeep, and the non-binding arms allow you to quickly and easily unhook the tow bar from your vehicle even if you are parked on pretty rough terrain.

Moving on to safety cables and the required wiring I recommend the RoadMaster Falcon 2 and Falcon All-Terrain Combo Towing Kit with Straight Wiring # RM-9243-1 which includes the required safety cables, and all of the components needed to add a 6-way connector to the front of your Jeep to allow your motorhome to power its lights when being towed. In addition to all of this, this kit also includes locks to keep the tow bar secured to your tow vehicle and a case for storing the tow bar when not in use.

For a supplemental braking system I recommend going with the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR as it is very easy to install compared to the very in-depth install required for some of the other systems, and since it gets completely removed when you are done flat towing it can be used in multiple vehicles if needed. To use this with your Jeep you will also need to install the 12v outlet kit # RM-9332.

Lastly you will more than likely need a high-low adapter to level your tow bar to your tow vehicle so I have included a link to a helpful article that goes over how to measure for the correct adapter, and also a link to our selection of high-low adapters for you to look through.

It is always a good idea to check out the recreational towing section of your Jeeps owner's manual to find any flat towing restrictions and for any special steps needed to make your Jeep ready to be flat towed.
