Recommended Full Soft Top for 2000 Jeep Wrangler TJ with Full Doors

Question:

I just bought a used 2000 jeep tj, it has a hard top on it but I would like to get a soft top, what do I need in order to do this?

I'm happy to assist a fellow Jeep owner and you've got a couple of options here depending on whether or not you want to install a frame/bow system to support the top; if you're going to switch between the hard top and soft top frequently then I recommend going the frameless route since it eliminates the need to remove all of the soft top hardware and frame when you want to install the hard top.

If you're looking for a good value then I recommend using the Rampage Trail Top All-Season 2-in-1 Soft Top for Jeep - Tinted Windows - Sailcloth - Black Diamond # RA109535, which is made from a bit lighter 18 oz. material and if you remove the windows it can be used as a safari top.

I think the best option in terms of quality, durability and functionality is the Bestop Trektop NX Soft Top for Jeep - Sunroof and Tinted Windows - Black Twill # B5692017, which is also a frameless system. This is a 28oz fabric weight top and I really like that it gives you the fold back "sun roof" similar to the new style soft tops that are being used in the newer JK and JL models. This top can also have the rear windows unzipped to give you a safari style cover.

Both of these tops are compatible with full doors and give you some nice options that won't break the bank. I've also linked our entire selection of full top systems for your TJ to take a look at if you wanted to go a different route.
