Parts Needed to Install a 7-Way Round Blade Connector On a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
What do I need to add full trailer wiring to an 01 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4x4, 4.0 V6? It appears to already have what I think is an aftermarket hitch receiver. I do not think its factory, as one is not listed on the build sheet and I do not see a trailer plug. Other than the trailer brake controller, what do I need for a 7 pin?

If you have no factory wiring or aftermarket wiring already installed on your 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee you will need a Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C55369 to connect to the factory wiring connector that is installed on every 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. This will control the tail light functions as well as the running lights of your 7-way.
The Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 will provide you with a 7-way, the wiring and connectors to run a power line to the battery on your Jeep as well as a wire for the brake controller. The Tekonsha 4-Way will plug directly into this 7-way for simple conversion.
If you do need a brake controller I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195.
I have linked some installation videos below that may help you to fully understand the installation process and how the parts will all work together to give you a 7-way on your Jeep.
