Trailer Wiring and Trailer Hitch for a 2015 Chevy Traverse
Question:
Hello. I have 2015 Chevy Traverse LS. It does not have a trailer hitch or trailer wiring harness. I would like a 4/7-pole connector kit. What would you suggest? Will the suggested kit require me to splice into the existing wirinig? If so, does the kit have instructions specific to a traverse without a harness?

In order to install a 4 and 7 way trailer connector you are going to first need to install a 4-Way wiring harness using # C56181. Then, you will need a 4 and 7 way installation kit # ETBC7. The ETBC7 provides the 7-Way while retaining the 4-Way. It also provides the wiring and parts needed to make the 12 volt pin hot and the wiring and parts needed to install a brake controller if you wanted to add one.
We do not have specific installation instructions for the ETBC7 because it is a universal fit item. But I have linked a video showing installation of the 4-Way on a 2009 Chevy Traverse as well as some links that explain the ETBC7 installation.
If you just want the trailer lights to work with the ETBC7 then you only need to plug in the 4-Way to it and ground the white wire. The remaining wires can be taped up and stowed out of the way.
If you want to add a brake controller then I recommend the P2 # 90885. It is easy to set up, easy to use, and its a reliable controller. I have linked instructions for it as well.
For a trailer hitch check out the Draw-Tite hitch # 75528. With this hitch installed, only the receiver will be visible. I have included a link to the right showing installation for you.
