Recommended Axle-Less Suspension With Higher Capacity for R-Pod 172 Trailer.
Question:
We have an prod 172 we bought used and the camber on the wheels is really bad. Our tires are wearing out on the inside quickly. We would like to replace the axel with a higher load rating. Currently ~3500# - would like around 5000# We also like the springless axels. Any suggestions on how to do this and what parts would be needed?

When it comes to adding a higher axle capacity please keep in mind that this does not necessarily mean the rest of your trailer is capable of handling additional weight. You will be limited by the lowest capacity of any given part on your trailer. Your current problem may be due to overloading your trailer.
That being said, you can certainly add an axle-less suspension system to your trailer like the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - 2" Lift Spindle w/ Brake Flange - 5,200 lbs. # TASR5200S05. The only issue will be the stiffness of the springs since this system is designed for heavier loads. Based on the fact that you already have a 3,500 lb axle, I would recommend the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - Straight Spindle Only - 3,500 lbs # ASR3500S05 instead.
This system can mount to any frame width. It may also require additional support if your trailer does not have a crossmember above the spot where you want to install the Timbren system. There are three ways this can be done. One is to retrofit the trailer with a crossmember, the seond is to build out the trailer frame, and the third is to use a 2" x 3" steel tubing to connect the 2 suspensions together using the built-in hole each has.
In addition to the Timbren system, you may need to replace your hubs, brakes, wheels, and tires to match. Without knowing what you currently have I can't say for sure though. This system has a 4 bolt braking flange configuration. It uses a # L68149 inner bearing, # L44649 outer bearing, # L68111 inner race, # L44610 outer race, and # RG06-050 grease seal. If what you have doesn't match, the same system is available with everything aside from wheels and tires, which is the # A35RS545E.
If you choose to go with the 5,200 lb system the installation will be the same, the only difference will be what brakes, hubs/drums, and wheels/tires fit.
I have attached a review video of the system for your reference.
