Why Isn't My Speed Knob on My Yakima RidgeBack # Y02458 Unscrewing?
Question:
Looking for the release latch that lowers the bike rack so I can open the back tailgate door. Also, I am having trouble with getting the lower locking hitch to release. I've tried for hours with no luck. Latch broke. Thanks

I have an answer for you. From the looks of your included pictures (thank you!), you have the Yakima RidgeBack 4 # Y02458. The latch mechanism is integrated in the whole mast assembly, so there are unfortunately no replaceable parts available for replacement. The best bet is to use a tool like a screwdriver or wrench to see if you can maneuver that tab to release the tilt mechanism.
As far as the speed knob # 8880508, it is important to make sure that the knob is unlocked before releasing. If the knob is unlocked, another thing that helps is pushing in toward the vehicle while unscrewing the knob. It helps to unscrew the knob a bit before pushing in toward the vehicle.
