Will The Thule Vector Alpine Cargo Box TH613501 Fit My 2017 Subaru Crosstrek?
Question:
3 questions: 1. Is there any technical, clearance or factory stated reason this box will NOT work on a 2017 Subaru CrossTrek? 2. If the answer is no, are there any other rooftop cargo boxes WITH MORE CUBIC FT that will work on this car? 3. Other than color, is there any difference between the Black and the Grey models of the Thule Alpine Vector box? Other Info: Rails and Crossbars - I have Subaru factory- mounted side rails, and Rhino-Rack StealthBar crossbars part #: RSB01-07 that I bought from etrailer. Currently have a RoofNest Condor Model Rooftop Tent mounted on this combination ~ 135# with no issues. The tent will be moved to the top of a trailer.

There is no reason the Thule Vector Alpine Rooftop Cargo Box - 13 Cubic Ft - Gloss Black # TH613501 you were looking at would not work with the Rhino-Rack Vortex StealthBar Roof Rack - Raised, Factory Side Rails # JA7954 you have installed on your 2017 Subaru Crosstrek.
The only possible issue is that you will need to move the front crossbar as far forward as possible. If from the center of the front crossbar to the edge of your rear hatch is LESS than 47-1/2" you will not be able to open the rear hatch with the cargo box installed. A quick measurement will be able to tell you if you will have this issue or not.
For a cargo box with more cubic feet of storage there is the Yakima SkyBox NX 16 Roof Cargo Box # Y95AV which will fit perfectly on your vehicle, and has 16 cubic feet of storage, 3 more than the # TH613501. This cargo box only requires 47" of space from the center of the front crossbar to the edge of the rear hatch so it will actually be an even better fit while giving you extra storage space.
The Black # TH613501 and the Grey # TH613500 are the exact same size and the only difference between these two is the color.
Between the options I went over, I recommend going with the # Y95AV as you will get more storage space and a more compact box that will be a better fit on your vehicle.
