Derale Deep Transmission Pan Cooler Instructions and Extension Tube

Question:

I ordered a 14202 transmission pan cooler for my 1986 Chevrolet 2500 Suburban with the 454 engine. When it arrived there was no instruction sheet. I have the deep pan now and was wondering if I needed the tube extenion tube. You can email me the instructions or mail them. Thanks

Typically instructions are not included with the Derale Transmission Pan Coolers. I have contacted Derale requesting this information as well but my contact did explain that they do not have any additional instructions that I can send to you.

My contact at Derale did explain that the tubes in the pan area of this cooler are designed to be at the same height and position of a standard OEM pan cooler. Please be aware that if you do currently have a deep pan cooler it is possible that your current transmission fluid filter and tubing may need to be adjusted to accommodate the cooling tubes within the cooling pan.

If you currently have a GM OEM deep transmission fluid pan that has a filter tube extension, Derale does not specify if that extension is necessary for this transmission pan. However, Derale does indicate that the distance from the top of the pan to the cooling tubes is 3-1/16 inches. Please measure and see if your current extension filter tube would interfere with the cooling tubes, and adjust accordingly.
