Yes, the installation of the Curt Hitch # 76271 will require you to uninstall/reinstall the heat shield on your 2021 Subaru Forester. In addition, you will also need to trim part of your heat shield with tin snips. I went ahead and attached a photo of the step that involves removing the heat shield as well as the outline of the part you will need to snip.
