2005 Monaco Knight Motor Home and Trailer Hazard Flashers not Working Troubleshooting
Question:
Good Day Gentleman: I have a 2005 Monaco Knight motorhome that has a 4 light tailight system, after installing the 4 to 2 light converter everything works fine except when the emergency flashers are on in the motorhome, the trailer lights do not flash at all. All signal and brake lights work normally. Note that all 4 lights brake and signal on the motorhome flash at the same time when the emergency flashers are engaged Thanks for your help

The best way to start is to do a quick inspection of the components involved, then if there are no immediately recognizable issues proceed to testing wiring to determine if the problem is the trailer or your motor home.
I would recommend doing a quick inspection of the following items before testing wires:
Check to make sure all electrical connections are secure, also look for any corrosion or indications of moisture within connectors.
Make sure that all grounded wires are grounded to an appropriate clean metal surface.
Any damaged to wires, including any breaks in insulation, any loose connections points, exposed or any damage to the wires. Especially check near any moving parts.
Check connections at the light bulbs and make sure they are secure.
Make sure that if the lights ground through the mounting hardware, that the grounding surface is clean can properly ground the wires. (i.e. not plastic)
If you do not see any problems with these items, then the electrical issue needs to be isolated. It could be either in your 2004 Monaco Knight Motor Home or the trailer. To do that use a circuit tester like # PTW2993, and make sure that there is power going to the 4-way connector. If power is going to the 4-way properly when the flashers are on, then the problem is most likely in the trailer.
To check the power going to the 4-way properly you will need to check the functions going into the 4-way while they are activated. If possible, it is helpful to have someone else activate these functions while you are testing. Make sure that the 4-way is disconnected from the trailer and test the vehicle input and output side of the 4-way while each function (brake, turn signals, running lights, and flashers) is activated. Please make sure that you have attached the clip on the tester to a properly grounded area.
If after testing, and the input on the 4-way is functional but the flashers are still not working on the trailer, proceed to check the wiring in the trailer. Plug in the trailer and test in the same way, one component at a time, to isolate the problem.
I have provided links to the parts listed above and a helpful article for you that might help you isolate the electrical issue that you are encountering.
