Best Quality 5th Wheel Hitch For 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 Short Bed with OEM Pucks

Question:

What fifth wheel hitch is recommended for my 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 short bed? I'm towing a 15K 5th wheel and my truck has the sockets or pucks in the bed. I realize you get what you pay for, so I want a good quality hitch that will last for years. My 5th wheel has a Reese revolution pinbox on it, so I'm told I don't need a hitch that slides, is that right? What else do I need?

You heard correctly. Because your 5th wheel has the Reese Revolution pin box, you will have enough clearance between the 5th wheel and the truck cab to negotiate turns without needing a sliding hitch. This is great news because sliding hitches are quite a bit more expensive as well as being heavier and therefore harder to install and remove.

From a quality and ride comfort standpoint, you can never go wrong with the B&W Companion, part # BWRVK3710. The Companion will fit directly into the pucks in your truck bed after possibly needing a slight initial adjustment, but after that it'll only take a couple of minutes to install and remove. The hitch features massive 1 inch thick jaws that hold the king pin all around its circumference so the rattling and banging of the king pin in the hitch jaws will be minimal, while the polyurethane bushings help isolate the tow vehicle from shocks experienced by the 5th wheel.

If you'd like the convenience of a 7-way trailer connector in the truck bed so you don't have to run the trailer connector cable up over the truck tailgate, you can install one using part # C56000.
